Shared & Public Warehousing in Centennial, CO

Centennial, CO

Shared and public warehousing with Johnson Warehousing gives you professional storage and pallet positions without committing to a whole building. You tap into our asset-based warehouses and processes on a flexible basis—perfect for overflow, slow-moving inventory, new markets, and operations that aren’t yet ready for contract warehousing.

Who Shared & Public Warehousing Is For

This model is a strong fit if you:

Don’t need a full warehouse yet, but want reliable, professional storage.
Have overflow or seasonal inventory that comes and goes throughout the year.
Are testing a new product line or market and don’t want long-term commitments.
Carry slow movers that tie up space in your own facility.
Need flexible pallet positions to support promotions, special projects, or events.

Typical users include:

E-commerce and DTC brands in growth mode
Manufacturers and distributors with variable volumes
CPG and retail suppliers needing overflow or regional staging
Hospitality and restaurant groups with FF&E or OS&E that doesn’t justify a dedicated program yet
3PLs and brokers looking for additional capacity in key markets

If your storage needs fluctuate, shared/public warehousing is often the most cost-effective way to stay flexible.

How Our Shared & Pallet Storage Works

Flexible Pallet Positions at Our San Diego Facility

We allocate pallet positions for your freight inside our San Diego warehouse in Otay Mesa, alongside other customers in a shared environment.

How pallet storage works at our San Diego facility: you pay for the positions you use, not for a whole building. Scale up when seasonal volumes hit or a new program launches, and scale back when inventory draws down. Use our San Diego location on its own or combine it with other Johnson markets for regional coverage.

Our San Diego facility offers racked pallet storage and open floor space. We currently have pallet positions available for new shared warehousing programs.

Standardized Receiving and Storage

We use transparent, repeatable processes so your product is handled consistently at our San Diego warehouse:

  • Scheduled receiving for inbound trucks or containers.
  • Basic inspection and check-in.
  • Labeled, scanned, and stored in racking or floor positions.
  • Organized by SKU, lot, or project as needed.
Asset-Based Warehouse and Fleet

Because we own and operate the warehouse and trucks, there is no extra layer between you and your inventory. You work directly with the team that is storing and moving your product, which means faster communication, fewer surprises, and easier coordination with your other Johnson services.

In San Diego, your pallet storage is managed by our local Otay Mesa team. The people handling your receiving, storage, and outbound shipments are Johnson employees working in the same building where your inventory sits.

Optional Handling and Value-Added Services

As your needs change, you can add handling and services on top of your San Diego pallet storage:

  • Case picks, transfers, or consolidations.
  • Rework, restack, and pallet rebuilding.
  • Palletization and shrink-wrapping.
  • Prep for outbound LTL/TL shipments.

You only pay for the services you actually use. All value-added services at our San Diego facility are handled by our local team and priced per activity, so you only pay for what your program actually requires.

Visibility and Reporting

Even in a shared environment, you still need to know what you have and where it is. From our San Diego warehouse we provide:

  • Inventory snapshots by SKU or project.
  • Activity summaries (receipts, moves, shipments).
  • Simple reporting tailored to your ops or finance teams.

Shared & Public Warehousing FAQs

Pricing is typically based on pallet positions or cubic footage, plus any handling and value-added services you use. We’ll quote a structure that reflects your average and peak volumes so you know what to expect.
If your volumes grow to the point where dedicated space makes more sense, we can transition you into a contract warehousing arrangement—often within the same building or another Johnson facility.
We usually structure shared/public warehousing with more flexible terms than contract warehousing. The exact commitment depends on your volume and requirements, but it’s generally designed to support changing inventory levels.
Yes. Many customers start with basic pallet storage and then add services like case picking, labeling, kitting, or rework. We’ll scope those services into your program as needed.
Timelines depend on the market and space availability, but in many cases, we can onboard shared/pallet storage programs faster than full contract warehousing. Once we understand your volumes and target locations, we can give you a realistic start date.
